Matt Mortensen runs Reliance Systems Group, a Minneapolis consulting firm that helps manufacturers and other organizations get their technical data and business systems working together. He has a PhD in Organic Chemistry, is an alumni of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellows (Germany), and has spent the better part of the last twenty years working in manufacturing/engineering companies in the Twin Cities, most recently at 3M in Maplewood. In grad school Matt taught freshmen and sophomores in the lecture halls and labs of West Virginia University, and he has since carried the love of teaching at work and through his volunteering efforts. He has judged at the Minnesota Academy of Science State Science Fair and Science Bowl competitions, designed and ran a summer science camp studying local rabbit populations, participated in traveling STEM demos through 3M Visiting Wizards, and helped his oldest child take first prize in her school science fair, as well as coaching youth soccer and football teams. Above all, Matt has a deep sense of curiosity about the world and how things work.
